Test Positive Aware Network (TPAN) and Positively Aware announce the arrival of the Eleventh Annual HIV Drug Guide. Widely recognized throughout the country as the “must have” tool for HIV service providers, this year’s Drug Guide offers the most up-to-date information on currently available HIV medications as well as a detailed look at those in development.
“The 2007 edition of the Drug Guide reflects the brisk pace of change in antiretroviral recommendations due to new research and clinical experience observed in 2006, as well as a look into the future where further change seems guaranteed,” says Keith Henry, MD, director of the HIV program at Hennepin County Medical Center and Professor of Medicine at University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. “The annual update is an effort on behalf of Test Positive Aware Network to facilitate what is an under-appreciated key factor contributing to improving HIV/AIDS clinical outcomes – HIV-savvy, well-educated patients and providers.”
The Eleventh Annual HIV Drug Guide is updated by Rupali Jain, PharmD, and features the expertise and knowledge of Dr. Henry and activist Cathy Olufs, and is available free of charge and can be ordered by contacting Keith Green, associate editor for Positively Aware, at (773) 989-9400 ext. 252 or k.green@tpan.com. Providers can also pick up Drug Guides from TPAN, 5537 N. Broadway, Monday through Friday from 9AM to 6PM.
“This is a wonderful resource that offers an objective viewpoint on all the different drugs that we have to choose from and their side effects,” says State Representative Greg Harris who has been living with HIV since 1990. “I use it a lot to verify information that I get from doctors, pharmacies and other sources.”
TPAN provides peer-led HIV Treatment Education, programming, outreach, support services, information dissemination, and advocacy. TPAN publishes and distributes two HIV/AIDS journals, Positively Aware and Positively Aware en Español, as well as the bilingual Chicago Area HIV Services Directory.
